Changes in Local Policing

11 May 2010

Here is an important message from Chris Buggins, our local Police Community Support Officer:

Some of you will already be aware, but as of the 20th of May I will no longer be responsible for Ditchling, Wivelsfield, Streat or Westmeston.

Replacing me will be PCSO James Armstrong who is already an experienced officer and will be transferring from the Ringmer area. To ensure continuity there will be a handover period and James will be fully appraised of all ongoing issues, contacts and priorities. James will be in contact with you in due course.

I will be moving on to cover all the Ouse valley and surrounding villages between Lewes and Newhaven. I would like to say that I have really enjoyed working in the area for the last six years and thank those of you that have made me feel welcome and have always been very hospitable (and make nice tea). It has certainly not been without its challenges from time to time and have had a couple of close calls but relish the challenge. The role of PCSO has always been a controversial one since first introduced and has taken plenty of flak in the past which I was well aware of when I signed on the dotted line. But I like to think that I have had a positive impact somewhere, I certainly wouldn’t have stayed in the job so long if I didn’t think I was.

All that remains for me is to say thank you and I hope the Ouse Valley is as welcoming as you have been.

Kind regards PCSO Chris Buggins Lewes Rural NPT/Wildlife/Farm Liaison.
