You may have noticed that Friday is an exciting day for anyone with an interest in local history and characters. See the Events section for more details of these two very interesting talks: On Friday morning (10:30am) David Ronai will give the history morning talk at Stoneywish Visitor Centre titled "A Journey Round Emett". David will tell the fascinating story of Rowland Emett's amazing creations, supported by many images from the Stoneywish Emett Archive. On Friday evening (7:30pm) Sylvia Bain will present "From The Field to the Foundry" in the Village Hall. This is described as "an unusual opportunity to explore the history of the South Downs and the Ditchling area through the media of a genuine 19th Century `magic lantern', readings and the traditional local songs and music of the era." |
